First Airplane Flies from Sochi to Tbilisi Since 2019

Air traffic between Sochi, Russia and Tbilisi has been restored after a long hiatus. The first airplane took off from Sochi airport to Georgia since 2019. This information was reported by Gazeta.ru, citing TASS.

"The flight has just been carried out," said the press service of the airport.

It was noted that the flights were conducted by Red Wings airline. The departure for Tbilisi was originally scheduled for 14:00 Moscow time but took place later than planned.

Recall that on May 10, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree lifting the ban on air travel to Georgia, which was imposed in 2019 due to mass anti-Russian protests in Tbilisi. The country's leader also abolished the visa regime for Georgian citizens that had been in place since 2000.

Earlier, the Mayor of Tbilisi referred to those opposed to the arrival of tourists from the Russian Federation as hypocrites.
