Assassination Attempts Against Margarita Simonyan and Ksenia Sobchak Thwarted
The Federal Security Service and law enforcement officials have thwarted assassination preparations against Margarita Simonyan, the chief editor of 'Russia Today' and RT media group, and journalist Ksenia Sobchak by Ukrainian special services. This was reported by Ria.ru, referencing the Federal Security Service.
On the previous day, members of the neo-Nazi group 'Paragraph-88' were detained in Moscow and the Ryazan region, where they were conducting reconnaissance at Simonyan’s and Sobchak's 'work and residence addresses.' The detainees stated that they were to receive 1.5 million rubles (approximately 20 thousand dollars) for each assassination.
“During the investigation, an AK-47 assault rifle, 90 cartridges intended for it, knives, rubber clubs, handcuffs, Nazi-symbolized flags, Nazi literature, as well as communication equipment and computers containing information corroborating their crimes were discovered and seized,” reported the Federal Security Service.
