The Individuals in Question Were Not ICRC Employees: Organization Responds to Azerbaijani Accusations

The ICRC is aware of the concerns raised regarding the illegal transport of goods through the Lachin corridor and considers such actions unacceptable. We announce that no unauthorized items have been found in any ICRC-owned transport vehicles. All cargo being transported is subject to customs inspection by the Republic of Azerbaijan. This was stated in a press release by the ICRC.

We regret that four hired drivers attempted to transport commercial goods using their own vehicles, which temporarily bore the ICRC logo, without our knowledge. These individuals were not ICRC employees, and the service contracts signed with them have been immediately terminated by the ICRC.

Our work along the Lachin corridor is consistently and exclusively humanitarian in nature. As part of this vital work, more than 600 patients have been transported to Armenia to receive urgent medical assistance, as well as medical supplies, food, baby food, and other essential items transferred to local medical institutions and families.

It is very important that this work continues. Our activities are always coordinated with the parties involved and have a significant impact on the lives of thousands of people.
