VIDEO: How Edgar Ghazaryan Was Beaten - Circumstances Revealed

The Investigation Committee of Armenia's Yerevan division has uncovered several details regarding the incident causing light bodily harm to Edgar Ghazaryan in the course of a criminal investigation.

On October 18, 2022, at 1:00 PM, Edgar Ghazaryan reported to the Shengavit district investigation department of the Committee that on the same day, between 11:15 and 11:30 AM, two unknown individuals attacked him in the yard of the building located at 16/2 Eghbayrutyun Street in Yerevan, hitting him with their hands and feet, resulting in bodily injuries.

On the same day, a criminal case was initiated under the features of part 2, clause 5 of Article 171 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which continued its preliminary investigation within the Committee's Yerevan division on serious crimes.

During the preliminary investigation, interrogations were conducted, several expert evaluations were appointed, and recordings from security cameras present at the crime scene were seized and examined. As a result, significant circumstances of the incident were revealed through investigative actions, including the identification of individuals who allegedly committed the crime, residents of Arinj village aged 48, 37, and 31.

Necessary urgent investigative and procedural actions identified the actions of each individual, which were legally evaluated. Accordingly, according to the acquired data, a 37-year-old man, for an unspecified motive still under investigation, along with a 31-year-old fellow villager and with the assistance of another 48-year-old fellow villager in a vehicle they drove, an Opel, went to Ghazaryan’s residence on Eghbayrutyun Street at around 10:45 AM on October 18, 2022, and waited for him.

Upon noticing Edgar Ghazaryan approaching, they stealthily attacked him in order to realize their criminal intent, delivering numerous blows to various parts of his body, causing injuries categorized as light bodily harm, then fleeing the scene.

On June 15, 2023, the prosecuting body submitted requests to the supervising prosecutor for public criminal prosecution against the 37 and 31-year-old men under part 2, clause 5 of Article 171 of the Criminal Code, and against the 48-year-old man under part 2, clause 5 of Article 46-171, which were approved. A measure to prevent them from leaving was chosen as a restriction.

As suspects, they were notified about the necessity to present themselves to the prosecuting body, but they did not appear. Necessary operational-investigative measures are being implemented to locate both them and the Opel Vectra vehicle for presentation to the prosecuting authority.
