Video: New Footage on Incident at Pub
A video has circulated on the internet showing an incident at a pub in Yerevan, where a customer requests a menu in Armenian from a female bartender, speaking with a strong Russian accent.
It's worth noting that Anna Hakobyan, the wife of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, made a post on her official Facebook page regarding the recent incident at one of the bars in Yerevan.
“An amateur video has been shared online, depicting a situation at a Yerevan bar where a customer demands an Armenian menu from the bartender with a pronounced Russian accent, yet requests beer in Armenian. The young bartender is unable to fulfill this request and speaks in Russian, presumably because she is Russian or a Russian citizen who has recently moved to Armenia to live and work. The woman who filmed this video shares it as undeniable evidence of how the state language is being violated in Armenia, highlighting how the Russian girl disregards our laws. She posted the video on her Facebook page, where she and her friends leave emotional comments in flawless Russian, expressing their outrage over the infringement of the Armenian language. According to them, the Russian girl should be prohibited from earning a living in a Yerevan bar since she hasn’t learned Armenian after one or two years, while they believe it is permissible for Armenians, born and raised in Armenia, to defend the state language in perfect Russian against Russians and others,” she remarked.
