VIDEO: "Azerbaijan is trying to intimidate the Armenian people and gain geopolitical dividends through these actions" - David Babayan
Azerbaijan is attempting to intimidate the Armenian people and gain geopolitical dividends through its actions, stated David Babayan, advisor to the President of Artsakh, in an interview with Horizon regarding the Azerbaijani provocation that occurred in Artsakh overnight.
“The Azerbaijani side has been escalating the situation in the information sphere for about a week now, firing shots and violating the ceasefire regime. They are also taking into account regional and global developments and are possibly making some miscalculations. However, they feel compelled to continue this direction. Their violations of the ceasefire regime and rhetoric intensified particularly the day before the attempted coup in Russia,” Babayan noted. “Apparently, through various intelligence channels, they had learned that the situation in Russia might explode, and we know what the complications, revolutions, and downfall of that country mean for the Armenian people. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that they had prepared in advance to execute a significant provocation, and now they seem to be continuing this momentum. Moreover, they have resorted to such actions during every meeting, primarily to affect the Armenian people and society, to intimidate them, and to somehow gain geopolitical dividends,” he added.
