New Clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh Did Not Halt Negotiations Between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington, U.S. State Department

New clashes in Nagorno-Karabakh have not led to a halt in negotiations between the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington. This statement was made by the U.S. State Department.

It is noteworthy that today, June 28, a meeting took place in the U.S. capital Washington, between Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Also present at the meeting was Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, recent developments in the region were discussed during the meeting. In the context of achieving long-term peace and stability in the South Caucasus, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan emphasized the importance of ensuring maximum clarity in the delimitation process based on the Alma-Ata Declaration and the 1975 maps, as well as the significance of troop withdrawal.

The discussion also addressed the unblocking of regional infrastructure, highlighting the absence of alternatives while respecting principles of sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity. Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan once again underscored the importance of adequately addressing the rights and security issues of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
