The units of the private military company "Wagner" are leaving the territory of the Voronezh region in an organized manner and without incidents. This was reported by the governor Alexander Gusev, according to RIA Novosti.
"The movement of the Wagner private military company units through the Voronezh region is coming to an end. The movements are proceeding regularly and without incidents," he wrote.
The governor added that all restrictions would be lifted after the final resolution of the situation. He promised to provide further information on the measures for damage restoration and compensation.
The regional leader also thanked the residents of Voronezh for their "restraint, determination, and prudence," as well as law enforcement agencies and involved departments for their well-coordinated work and professionalism.
Earlier, it was reported that a convoy of Wagner's equipment had left Rostov-on-Don, where on the previous day, Wagner fighters had occupied military facilities. This was stated by the governor Vasily Golubev. According to him, the fighters have returned to field camps.
On the night of June 24, Wagner fighters seized the headquarters of the Southern Military District located in Rostov-on-Don. Russian President Vladimir Putin described the actions of the Wagner units as a "criminal adventure," and a criminal case has been opened against Prigozhin for organizing an armed rebellion.
Later, the press service of the President of Belarus reported that Alexander Lukashenko had held negotiations with Prigozhin and accepted his proposal to halt Wagner’s movement in Russia and to take further steps for de-escalation.
In the evening, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, stated that the leader of Wagner would go to Belarus, and the criminal case would be dismissed. The guarantee that Prigozhin would be able to do this is the word of the President of Russia, Peskov added.
