Brawl Follows Car Accident in Armavir, One Injured

On June 22, a serious incident occurred in the Armavir province. Around 11:00 PM, the "Armavir" medical center alerted the Armavir division of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, reporting that a citizen had been admitted with a "penetrating stab wound to the left side of the chest." This was reported by Shamshyan.com.

Doctors at the hospital informed the police that the injured individual was unable to provide an explanation regarding the incident due to being in surgery. While the medical team was attending to the victim, police in the Armavir province identified the individual as 28-year-old Igor B., a resident of Armavir.

Law enforcement also determined that on the same day, around 10:50 PM, in the Republic Avenue of Armavir city, 43-year-old Vahram M. had collided with a Ford vehicle belonging to 29-year-old Suren A., which was parked in front of house number 18. Following the accident, a dispute arose between Vahram M. and Suren A., which escalated with the involvement of Igor B., along with 40-year-old Kyuregh G., 41-year-old Haik K., and 34-year-old Rafik A., who was driving an Opel vehicle. Vahram M.'s son, 22-year-old Samvel M., also joined the fray.

A fight ensued during which, according to operational data received, Vahram M. struck Igor B. with a wrench, causing bodily harm.

Eyewitnesses gathered at the scene, who refused to speak on camera, stated: "We heard the sound of the collision. Next thing we knew, several people had gathered and started fighting. There were insults exchanged, and they were hitting each other. We thought someone was going to be taken away in a body bag. But fortunately, within a few minutes, the Armavir police arrived, laid them all on the asphalt, and took them away. Later we found out that one person had been hospitalized. If the police had come a little later, it wouldn’t have been just one person going to the hospital but several, and the argument could have ended tragically. We then saw the police taking the vehicles to the impound lot. It's true the police prevented further developments, but it's shameful; we are just a small group of Armenians, yet we can't understand each other over such a trivial car accident, resorting to violence."

A group from the Armavir regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, led by the head Samvel Simonyan, also arrived at the scene. Investigators discovered the wrench at the site, and the vehicles were removed to the specialized storage of the Armavir Police upon the investigator's directive. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified, including whether there were any other participants in the brawl.

Note: A suspect or defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law and a legally effective court ruling.
