Saakashvili on Putin's Advantage

Saakashvili on Putin's Advantage

The imprisoned former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has stated he is a prisoner of Russian President Vladimir Putin and "his local puppets," but even Putin showcases Navalny more often than the Georgian authorities do him. This comment was made by Saakashvili regarding the Tbilisi City Court's decision, which again postponed the trial over the dispersal of the protest on November 7, 2007.

“Today, the people would have seen that despite my physical condition, they could not break me psychologically, that I am more cheerful than ever. And that would destroy all of their propaganda. The court session was postponed indefinitely, at least until autumn. This clearly shows that the Russian leadership of the country has collapsed. But we will be able to win the fight with unity and strong will,” wrote Saakashvili on social media.

Saakashvili has called his imprisonment "a shameful page in Georgia's history." He emphasized that Georgia must return to a normal, democratic, competitive political process, free from violence, political prisoners, and other "Russian mines."
