What Not to Do in Border Tension Situations: Davit Torosyan
Lilit T.
Head of the NGO "In Honor of the Armenian Soldier," Davit Torosyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "A few recommendations on what NOT to do in border tension situations:
- Do not photograph the movements of military units, their vehicles—especially license plates—or the permanent locations of volunteers or other groups (CPG), or their movements. Even if you have taken these photographs for your personal archive or as a memento, sooner or later, counter-intelligence will find you.
- If you are a civilian living near the border area or have inadvertently found yourself in such places, do not broadcast live videos showing current events, even if you want to joyfully announce that the enemy has missed and has not hit our targets.
- Do not overload communication lines—do not call your acquaintances who are serving in the military; apart from causing disruptions and harm, you won’t be able to assist them in any way. If you do call, do not ask questions related to their location, movements, when they are "going up" or "going down," etc.
- Remember that the enemy is cunning; if you hold even minor information, they may contact you posing as a benefactor, a soldier's parent, or a relative who cannot reach their beloved one, trying to obtain information about the situation.
- Further steps will be detailed, as necessary, in the future."
