UN Gathers One Billion Dollars for Ukraine’s Recovery

The UN Development Program is gathering one billion dollars for Ukraine's recovery, announced Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal. He met with the program's director, Achim Steiner, in Kyiv.

Denis Shmyhal detailed that the meeting addressed Ukraine's needs for rapid recovery, demining, and humanitarian assistance. The issues of supporting small and medium-sized enterprises that have lost business due to the war were also highlighted.

The UN Development Program is preparing initiatives for training and retraining entrepreneurs and developing potential exporting enterprises. The program will also assist in the restoration of energy infrastructure.

According to the Kyiv School of Economics, the total damage inflicted on Ukraine in the first year of the full-scale war is estimated at 144 billion dollars. Following the disaster at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station on June 6, the damage has exceeded one and a half billion dollars.
