Armenia and Russia's Chief Prosecutors Meet: What Awaits Mihran Poghosyan
According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the Chief Prosecutor of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, is attending the 26th International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg at the invitation of Igor Krasnov, Chief Prosecutor of the Russian Federation.
During the forum, Anna Vardapetyan met with Igor Krasnov and discussed matters of mutual interest. Igor Krasnov expressed gratitude to Anna Vardapetyan for her constructive approach and reaffirmed his readiness to deepen cooperation between the law enforcement bodies of the two countries in several fundamental areas and specific cases, and to revise existing approaches.
It is worth noting that following the "revolution", former officials, including Mihran Poghosyan, who is wanted in connection with a case involving 1 ton of narcotics, were established in Russia to avoid political persecution. The prosecutor also raised the issue of Poghosyan’s extradition and that of other officials.
We will see what this meeting will bring to the RA law enforcement system. After all, five years have passed since the revolution, but law enforcement agencies have been unable to bring back former officials from Russia.
