Azerbaijan Targets Metallurgical Plant in Yereaskh, Armenian Foreign Ministry Reports
The Armenian Foreign Ministry has issued a statement regarding the actions of Azerbaijan's Armed Forces towards Yereaskh, which is presented below:
“On June 13, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, once again resorting to the use of force, opened fire on the positions of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia and civilian objects near the settlement of Yereaskh. Notably, the Azerbaijani side has targeted the metallurgical plant being constructed in Yereaskh through foreign investments. This was preceded by Azerbaijan's false accusations towards the Armenian side regarding the construction of the aforementioned plant.
The Republic of Armenia has previously stated that the construction of the plant is fully in line with its international obligations, and Azerbaijan's unfounded concerns aim only to obstruct Armenia’s economic development and foreign investments. Now, by shelling the construction site of the plant, Azerbaijan is showing blatant disregard for the internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Armenia, human rights, and international law.
Moreover, Azerbaijan consistently demonstrates that it bases its approach in negotiations with the Republic of Armenia on the illegal use of force to impose its desired solutions on the Republic of Armenia. It perceives the mild response and permissiveness of the international community as an enabling environment for this unacceptable policy of achieving its baseless, illogical, and arbitrary demands through threats of force.
We call on the international community to take concrete actions to limit Azerbaijan's expansionist ambitions and to confront its unacceptable policy of achieving demands through the threat of force.”
