Video: The Murder of 'Gununecci Varaziki' Revealed; One Arrested

The murder of 35-year-old Varazdat Gasparyan, known as 'Gununecci Varaziki' for his criminal background, has been solved. According to the National Police's press service, the body of Varazdat Gasparyan was discovered on June 6 at 22:07 at 49/2 Bagramyan Avenue, with a gunshot wound to the head.

"As a result of extensive operational and investigative measures, it has been established that around 22:00, a 25-year-old resident of Nairi-Dosi Street discharged shots at Varazdat Gasparyan in the vicinity of the aforementioned address with an illegally possessed firearm, the type of which has not yet been clarified. Subsequently, Varazdat Gasparyan succumbed to his injuries," the statement said.

It was revealed that the 25-year-old resident, having prior disagreements with Varazdat Gasparyan over undisclosed issues and having planned the murder, drove to James Bryce Street in Yerevan around 8:00 PM in an 'Opel' vehicle operating as a taxi, where he ambushed and seized the opportunity to shoot and kill Varazdat Gasparyan.

Today, the young man was found, arrested on grounds of reasonable suspicion of homicide, and transferred to the Arabkir Police Department, from where he was presented to the prosecuting authority.

It is worth mentioning that media reports suggest that Varazdat Gasparyan had been involved as an accused party in the criminal case of Robert Sukiasyan, the brother of Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction.

Recall that on July 18, 2021, shots were fired on Amiryan Street leading towards Saryan, in front of the NSS office in Yerevan. The fire came from a black 'Mazda 6'. Police and investigators determined that on the same day, around 19:00, a dispute had ensued over domestic issues between residents of Yerevan: 51-year-old Robert Sukiasyan, 47-year-old Arman Apiyan, 33-year-old Varazdat Gasparyan, 29-year-old Sargis Abgaryan, and 35-year-old Narek Karapetyan and 42-year-old Harout Habgeryan, a U.S. citizen. According to available information, Robert Sukiasyan, the brother of Khachatur Sukiasyan, fired shots from a firearm he had, injuring Habgeryan in the leg.
