Contract Soldiers Die in Tragic Car Accident in Syunik
A tragic car accident occurred today in the Syunik province. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.
Around 6:00 PM, 39-year-old Varujan B., a resident of Syunik, lost control of his Ford Transit vehicle on the 4.5 km section of the Vardavank - Kapan highway and rolled into a gorge under still unknown circumstances.
As a result of the accident, Varujan B. died at the scene, and his passenger, 36-year-old Harutyun G., was transported in critical condition to the Kapan Medical Center.
A rescue team from the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Rescue Service, Kapan Fire and Rescue Division No. 54, was dispatched to the site. The firefighters had great difficulty retrieving the deceased's body from the gorge and bringing it closer to the ambulance, while the injured man was transported to the emergency vehicle.
While an investigator was examining the scene, a call was received from the hospital at the Kapan police department reporting that the injured Harutyun G. had died in the intensive care unit without regaining consciousness.
In connection with the accident, a criminal case has been initiated by the Syunik regional investigative department.
According to G. Shamshyan's information, the deceased served as contract soldiers in the RA Army Unit N.
