What did Araik Harutyunyan and Ruben Vardanyan discuss?
The newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak" reports that on the day before, the President of Artsakh Araik Harutyunyan hosted representatives from Ruben Vardanyan's public movement, "Artsakh's Security and Development Front." The initiative came from the President of the Republic of Artsakh, prompted by a statement released by the front the day prior, which asserted that violating the red line is unacceptable.
The discussion centered on the Azerbaijani checkpoint affecting passenger transportation on the Stepanakert-Goris route. They emphasized that what has occurred constitutes a violation of the red line declared by the President of Artsakh, which ensures uninterrupted connection with Armenia.
Details from the closed meeting have emerged: Araik Harutyunyan provided evasive answers, failing to clarify exactly who had made such decisions. He noted that thousands of people are voicing their dissatisfaction as the connection with Armenia is not being maintained, particularly for transporting patients, despite the Red Cross handling this issue with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers. He mentioned that he is receiving applications from students, expressing that they cannot remain indefinitely under blockade.
Members of the movement insisted that he make a clear announcement regarding who has made the decision about passenger transport. Harutyunyan responded that this matter has been discussed in the Security Council, and he, the Minister of State, and the government are all inclined towards this.
Ruben Vardanyan’s associates left with a resolution to discuss their next steps related to what was communicated to them.
