Russian Border Guards Monitor Situation at Certain Areas of Armenia-Azerbaijan Border: Kopirkin
Russian border guards are monitoring the situation in certain areas of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, stated Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador to Armenia, in an interview with the "Iravunk" newspaper.
According to him, Russia remains committed to its obligations and the agreements signed between Armenia and Russia in the 1990s. “The Russian border guards are fulfilling their functions; they are present even in the sections of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, engaging in monitoring the situation. This means that Russia takes its obligations seriously. Our position here has not changed,” Kopirkin said.
It should be noted that Russian border guards have been stationed in the Goris-Kapan-Jakaten section of Armenia’s Syunik province since December 2020.
