Bus Carrying Garni Students Hits Tombstones at Dzhrvizh Cemetery, Injuries Reported

On June 2, an emergency incident occurred in the Kotayk region. Around 21:00, a MAN passenger bus left the road on the Yerevan-Garni highway in the area known as the Dzhrvizh cemetery, for still unknown reasons, and collided with several tombstones, ending up within the cemetery grounds.

According to Shamshyan.com, as a result of the accident, one person was transported to the hospital with injuries.

Witnesses at the scene reported that there were 28 children on the bus, all sixth-grade students of the Garni secondary school, returning to Garni from the Ashtarak valley when the accident occurred.

Preliminary information indicates that the children were unharmed, but doctors are conducting medical examinations.

A criminal investigation has been initiated by the Abovyan investigative division regarding the incident. The patrol service and the investigative department are working to establish the identity of the driver, who was taken to the hospital.
