BRICS Summit May Be Held in Another Country to Avoid Arresting Putin

The BRICS summit of member countries' leaders may take place in China, despite plans for it to be held in the Republic of South Africa. This was reported by Reuters, citing its sources.

It is noted that the reason for such a decision is that the African nation is trying to avoid the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin, for whom an arrest warrant has been issued by the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

According to a senior official in the South African government, who wished to remain anonymous, "one of the most likely options being considered by South African authorities is to ask China, as the group’s previous president, to host the summit."

South Africa’s Minister of International Relations Naledi Pandor stated that no final decision has been made yet on this matter. She added that the ministers would soon meet to consider options based on a report.
