How Can Any Positive Element Worthy of Encouragement Be Found in Aliyev's Statement Based on Open Blackmail and Coercion? Artsakh Foreign Ministry to the USA
The statement made by the official representative of the U.S. Department of State on May 30, welcoming the recent statements of Azerbaijan's president regarding readiness to consider the so-called amnesty issue for the residents of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), raises deep disappointment and concern. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh.
“It is inexplicable how one can find any positive element worthy of encouragement in the completely evident blackmail and coercion-based statement of the Azerbaijani president. It is clear that the main message of the president of Azerbaijan is that Azerbaijan refuses to engage in equal dialogue with the democratically elected authorities of the Republic of Artsakh and is guided solely by the desire to impose its power on the people of Artsakh by force.
We have no doubts that the U.S. wishes to play a positive role in achieving a fair, balanced, and dignified resolution to the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict and in promoting long-term peace in the region. At the same time, we believe that encouraging Baku's destructive and militaristic policy contradicts the desire to achieve positive changes in the peaceful resolution of the conflict,” the statement read.
