Another Step Taken to Reaffirm 29,800 sq. km Territorial Integrity, Says Pashinyan

Today it was important that the parties emphasized that they do not oppose using the 1975 maps as a basis for further delineation work between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan conveyed this to representatives of the Armenian community in Moldova while discussing the outcomes of the five-party meeting.

“We have taken another step forward in reaffirming our territorial integrity of 29,800 square kilometers,” he stated. He also mentioned that on June 12, the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan will meet in Washington. A meeting of the trilateral working group regarding regional communications is scheduled to take place in Moscow on June 2.

It should be noted that today a five-party meeting was held near the village of Bulboaca, located about 45 km from the capital of Moldova, Chișinău, with the participation of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Following the meeting, the President of the European Council informed reporters that a trilateral meeting involving the Prime Minister of Armenia, the President of Azerbaijan, and himself is scheduled for July 21 in Brussels.

Previously, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan held negotiations in Brussels on May 14 with the participation of Michel, and on May 25 in Moscow with the involvement of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
