Georgia Discusses Consequences of Joining Anti-Russian Sanctions
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has outlined the potential ramifications for the country should it enter into an armed conflict with Russia. In an interview with the Georgian newspaper Kviris Palitra, Papuashvili stated that Georgia would be left alone, as no one would come to its aid. Consequently, Tbilisi does not plan to impose anti-Russian sanctions or join the EU initiative.
“We will be left alone. We are looking at Ukraine and see that no one is fighting alongside or for the Ukrainian people. The most the West can do is supply weapons. They provide arms, but only Ukrainians are shedding blood on Ukrainian soil,” remarked the Speaker of the Parliament.
Previously, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili noted that the republic is rejecting anti-Russian sanctions, as their implementation would lead to the collapse of the economy.
