Armenia's Foreign Ministry Issues Call to Azerbaijan
The illegal abduction of two Armenian soldiers by Azerbaijan is another attempt to evade obligations. This was announced by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry on Twitter.
It was reported that yesterday, on March 26, communication was lost with two Armenian soldiers supplying food to combat positions. Today, a statement was released that a logistical supply vehicle was found on the inter-post road, which also contained one of the soldiers' attached weapon, an AK-74 assault rifle. The vehicle was found with its engine running.
“We call on the Azerbaijani authorities to release them (the abducted soldiers) and to fulfill the obligation to release all prisoners of war of Armenia, in accordance with the trilateral statement signed on November 9, 2020, and the calls of international partners and institutions,” stated the Armenian Foreign Ministry’s message.
It should be noted that the Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case under Article 191 (Abduction of a person) of the Armenian Criminal Code, based on parts 1, 5, 6, and 9 of the second paragraph, and Article 469 (Illegal crossing of the state border), based on the second point of part 3.
Comprehensive investigative and evidentiary measures are being carried out to fully clarify the circumstances of the illegal crossing of the border by Azerbaijani Armed Forces personnel and the abduction of soldiers.
It is reported that Azerbaijani forces have abducted soldiers Harutyun Yurikovich Hovagimyan and Karen Ashotovich Ghazaryan from the Armenian Ministry of Defense’s N military unit.
