NATO Plans to Offer Ukraine Enhanced Partner Status
NATO intends to offer Ukraine enhanced partner status, but will not propose expedited membership just yet, according to Euractiv.
“NATO members plan to offer Ukraine an advanced format of relations to provide political support to the country and its membership application, while specific membership plans remain a distant prospect,” the publication reports.
At the same time, several Eastern European countries argue it is necessary to clarify that “Ukraine will become a NATO member” after the conflict ends, and they call for the development of a specific entry program.
Meanwhile, NATO diplomats admit that there is no opportunity for Kyiv to join the alliance quickly.
