Khrenin and Shoigu Sign Documents on Nuclear Weapons
The defense ministers of Belarus and Russia, Viktor Khrenin and Sergey Shoigu, have today signed documents that define the maintenance procedure for Russian "non-strategic nuclear weapons" in a special storage facility located on the territory of the country. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
Khrenin stated, "The deployment of non-strategic nuclear weapons is an effective response to the aggressive policies of unfriendly countries towards us." He noted that both sides have taken measures to develop the combat potential of regional troop groupings, referring to the transfer of Iskander-M systems and S-400 air defense systems to Belarus.
"Su-25 aircraft have been re-equipped with the capability to use aerial weapons with nuclear technology. The military personnel of the Republic of Belarus have been trained in the training grounds of the Russian Federation and have gained practical skills in their operations," Khrenin added.
It is worth mentioning that Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has arrived in Minsk to participate in the meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
