VIDEO: Yes, this is not Alen Simonian's conversation spot, but it is not your shop either – Alen Simonian to the opposition
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, commented on the recent incident in his speech, stating: “I express my preemptive regret to Mr. Aghazaryan and Artur Sargsyan, and I emphasize this here because there is no desire to escalate the situation in any way. I could have applied other measures, for instance, not allowing the deputies into the hall until the end of the day, but I am not going that route. I also do not think that this is the right approach. This was an organized provocation, and I am very glad that we did not fall for that provocation.”
According to Simonian, a deputy who rarely appears in the hall, Ishkhan Sagatelyan, mentioned that this is not Alen Simonian's conversation spot, adding that it is not your shop or your hotel and establishments; this is the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Simonian noted that opposition deputies used this opportunity to avoid coming to the hall, stating: “Why? Because there is a Q&A session today, and the elected Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, will be giving a speech here. They needed an excuse for there to be a brawl, to escalate the situation. When this did not happen, they tried to create that situation in the corridor with the security staff. The opposition, which lacks content and agenda, is trying to provoke us; I urge you not to fall for those provocations,” Alen Simonian concluded.
