VIDEO. For Me, What Matters is the Existence of the Republic of Armenia: Gevorg Papoyan
In a conversation with journalists, addressing the issue of what his colleagues believe regarding the recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and its implications for Artsakh, Deputy of the ruling party Gevorg Papoyan stated:
“Our people, the government, and the political system must make a choice: peace or war, specifically war against Turkey and Azerbaijan. You know what the world thinks about the Artsakh conflict. You know what the world thinks about territorial integrity and the right of nations to self-determination. In this situation, we must decide whether we are heading towards a new war with Turkey and Azerbaijan, along with its consequences, or are we choosing the path of peace—the protection of Armenia's independence, sovereignty, the safety of the Armenian people, and the right of the Armenian people to live in Artsakh. That is what is important. We must choose between war and adventurism or peace.
We believe we should move forward with a peace agenda; there is no other choice. Yesterday, I listened to the opposition lawmakers, and they did not offer anything about taking a different path; their proposals were either about nothing or a new war. Maybe that suits them because their goal is to control Armenia—even within the framework of a third country's state—but for me, the most important thing is the existence of the Republic of Armenia,” the ruling party deputy said.
