US Considers Building Small Modular Nuclear Reactors in Armenia
The United States is considering the construction of small modular nuclear reactors in Armenia and other Eurasian countries, aiming to strengthen the energy independence of these nations from Russia and China.
This was announced on Tuesday by Maria Longin, coordinator of the U.S. government’s programs for supporting Europe and Eurasia, as reported by TASS.
“In several countries, including Armenia, we are evaluating the possibility of constructing small modular nuclear reactors using American technologies, which could lead to greater energy independence from both Russia and China,” she stated during a hearing of the U.S. House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee.
Longin did not provide further details.
