Yerevan Brandy Factory to Halt Exports to Russia: Kerobyan
The Yerevan Brandy Factory will cease exports to Russia. This was announced by Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan during a joint meeting of the National Assembly's Standing Committees on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs, Territorial Administration, Local Self-Government, Agriculture and Environmental Protection, and Economic Issues.
According to him, this is a problem that will impact grape procurement.
"We need to overall see what the environment is like, what kind of changes are occurring. And you know that the government can respond as quickly as possible to what has happened - I won't say in an ideal and best way, but smoothly," said Kerobyan.
Earlier, it was reported that the French Pernod Ricard Group had stopped supplying alcohol to Russia. The group released a statement announcing it would suspend the sale of several alcoholic brands it owns, including Ararat, Chivas Regal, Absolut, and Jameson in Russia. "Pernod Ricard can confirm that as of late April 2023, it has halted all shipments of its international brands to Russia," the company’s statement said.
It is reported that several months will be required for the company to cease sales in Russia. Let us remind you that in April, the Swedish Absolut, part of the group, also halted supplies to the Russian Federation. The company had previously announced it would partially resume exports to the Russian market, but this sparked a strong reaction in Sweden, leading to the decision to halt all supplies.
