Ukraine Attempts to Cross the Left Bank of the Dnipro; Russian Forces Intervene: The Washington Post

The Washington Post reports that Ukraine is preparing units to cross the Dnipro River, with special forces already moving to the left bank to conduct assaults, although Russian armed forces are preventing Ukrainian operatives from advancing.

It is noted that Ukrainian assault units are training twice a week for the crossing using boats and pontoon bridges. According to the publication, Kyiv has begun constructing boats that can be used for transporting heavy weapons.

Ukrainian Brigadier General Mykhailo Drabatiy asserts that special forces have already started to cross to the left bank of the river for raiding purposes, but they have not been able to secure themselves there.

“You will be killed immediately if you attempt to swim across the river... About 20-30 people can safely take a 100-meter area, but then artillery will bury them in 15 minutes,” said Ukrainian Colonel Roman Kostenko.

As the newspaper writes, establishing control over the islands on the river is currently a top priority for Ukrainians.
