Ukraine Aims to Eliminate Rosatom's Monopoly in Europe, Says Energy Minister
Ukraine is striving to replace Russia in the global nuclear fuel market by establishing its own nuclear fuel production. This was announced by Ukraine's Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko.
"We have the task of starting the production of fuel for reactors and eliminating Rosatom's monopoly in Europe. We are actively working on imposing sanctions against the Russians in the nuclear industry, but these sanctions will progress more quickly when Ukraine can replace the production that was previously done solely in Russia," he said.
Specifically, according to Galushchenko, reaching this goal will require the construction of new nuclear blocks, power plants, and small modular reactors.
