Import of Animals Susceptible to Lumpy Skin Disease from Turkey and Jordan Banned
By the order of the head of the Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia, as of May 20, 2023, the import of large and small cattle, pigs, reindeer, wild animals susceptible to lumpy skin disease, camels, and other representatives of the camelid family (including llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas), all types of zoo and circus animals, breeding bulls, boars, rams, and stallions’ semen, embryos of cattle and pigs, dairy products and milk from cattle and small ruminants, meat from slaughtered animals susceptible to lumpy skin disease, meat products and raw materials, leather, intestinal raw materials, pork rinds, hunting trophies, meat and bone meal, feed, and supplementary feed (excluding synthetic and chemical-containing supplements) from the Republic of Turkey and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, as well as from other countries, is prohibited.
The basis for this ban was the report from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the lumpy skin disease outbreak recorded in Turkey.
