NATO Will Not Expand at the Expense of Asian Countries, Stoltenberg

The NATO Secretary General stated in an interview with The Washington Post that the alliance will not expand at the expense of Asian countries.

“NATO will remain a North American and European alliance; it will not become a global alliance with member countries from Asia, and our collective security guarantee extends only over NATO territory,” Jens Stoltenberg said.

Stoltenberg also noted that all NATO countries support the idea of Ukraine joining the alliance, but it is still too early to talk about specific timelines. He mentioned that NATO member countries are assisting Ukraine in ensuring "interoperability with allied forces," as well as reforming and enhancing its defense and security institutions.
