I Have Not Changed My Decision to Travel to Brussels for Sunday Negotiations: Pashinyan

“At this moment, I have not changed my decision to travel to Brussels for Sunday negotiations,” Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a government meeting.

“I suspect that some forces may become agitated with the already known scenario, should I travel to Brussels. I also want to address the following question: how likely is it that a peace agreement with Azerbaijan will be signed on Sunday? Unfortunately, the possibility is very small because the draft of the bilateral agreement on peace and the establishment of interstate relations is still in a very preliminary state, and it is too early to talk about signing it,” he said.

Pashinyan emphasized that, on the other hand, there is a task to mature this document as quickly as possible and prepare it for signing. “Azerbaijan’s actions today cast doubt on the fundamental agreements reached during this period, which were documented on October 6, 2022, in Prague, and again on October 31 of the same year in Sochi.” According to Pashinyan, these documents highlight that Armenia and Azerbaijan recognize each other's territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991. “If Azerbaijan recognizes our territorial integrity, why is it firing on the sovereign territory of Armenia?”
