Armenia and Turkey Do Not Collaborate on the Development of the Ani Bridge Sketch

Armenia and Turkey are not collaborating on the development of the Ani Bridge sketch. This information was provided to Sputnik Armenia by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia in response to our written inquiry.

The media outlet had sent a request to the ministry asking whether the sketch of the bridge is ready.

“Currently, only the preliminary sketch of the Ani Bridge exists,” the ministry responded.

According to the department, only after the preparation of project planning documents can the restoration budget and specific timelines be indicated.

We also inquired whether a professional commission had been established. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports responded that the matter is still under discussion.

In our additional inquiry regarding who and when prepared the sketch, the ministry informed us that the preliminary sketch for the Ani Bridge was developed back in 2010. The ministry is unaware if a similar sketch is being developed in Turkey as well.

“The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of Armenia does not possess information regarding any actions undertaken by the Turkish side,” the response stated.

Additionally, the ministry declined to provide the preliminary sketch to us.
