Video: If there is no solution, there could be very disastrous developments, Levon Zurabyan

The American side has employed similar tactics when attempting to bring conflicting parties together at the negotiating table, striving to reconcile their positions within a few days. This was stated today, May 9, in an interview with NEWS.am in the ‘Victory’ Park by Levon Zurabyan, Vice President of the Armenian National Congress, regarding the four-day negotiations between the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan held in Washington.

He reminded that such attempts were made at Camp David when the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt was reached. “There was an effort in Key West when Robert Kocharyan and Heydar Aliyev were brought to Florida. This was a similar attempt, but it was evident that it was on a slightly smaller scale and it was clear that it was ill-prepared, because it was not conducted at the level of leaders, but rather at the level of Foreign Ministers. It was apparent that there was no guarantee of success. In fact, it was clarified that this did not materialize. This should also be explained by the fact that today there are two initiatives for the resolution of the Karabakh issue—one Russian and one Western. These initiatives compete with each other, thus hindering one another. Therefore, expecting a quick solution is difficult, despite the situation being such that if there is no solution, there could be very disastrous developments,” Zurabyan said.
