The Number of Tourists Increased This Year: Three Citizens from Azerbaijan Visited Armenia in 2022
Armenia welcomed 451,850 tourists in the first quarter of this year, which means an increase of 202,489 people compared to the same period last year. This information has been published on the website of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
During January to March, the largest number of visitors came from Russia, with Russian tourists numbering 237,040 (compared to 108,976 last year). In second place are Armenian citizens arriving from various countries, totaling 74,186 (up from 56,519 last year). There has also been a significant increase in visitors from Georgia, with 53,707 citizens (up from 24,158 last year), and citizens from the Islamic Republic of Iran, totaling 25,458 (compared to 23,291 last year). Rounding out the top five are citizens from the Philippines, numbering 5,981, an increase from 2,036 the previous year.
In the first quarter of 2023, 2,712 citizens from Turkey visited Armenia, which is 2.2 times more (1,244 people) than the figures recorded in the same period last year. It is also noted that in the first three months of 2022, three citizens from Azerbaijan visited Armenia, but none arrived during the same period this year.
