20-Year-Old Narek, Who Died Yesterday, Had 50 Days Until His Discharge
As a result of Azerbaijani provocation, 20-year-old Narek Baghdasaryan had only 50 days remaining until his discharge when he was killed yesterday.
Kotayk Governor Aharon Sahakyan expressed his condolences on his Facebook page regarding Narek's death and mentioned that he had known him since childhood. He stated, "The soldier who was killed yesterday while protecting the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia from enemy provocation is Narek Norayr Baghdasaryan, born in 2003, from the Garni community of Kotayk province. Having close familial ties, I have known Narek since childhood, a deeply restrained and modest patriot. The feeling of grief is immense, and the loss of our soldier is irreversible. Glory to Narek, patience to his family and all of us. Eternal respect to all our compatriots who gave their lives for the homeland."
Narek's classmate also posted on her Facebook page: "With great sorrow and regret, I say that you are no longer with us, our Narek, a kind, modest, and intelligent boy. Your place was here beside us; I don't know why God took you to Him. I still can't believe you are gone; just yesterday, we talked, and you said, 'I am fine, Sof, don’t worry; I will call you soon.' I am waiting for my brother's call saying that you are fine. You said we would come and see how good it is there; where are you? I am waiting for my brother; this life is so unfair, God takes those whom He shouldn't. I have so many good, kind memories with you, Narek; those were such good days. Oh, how I wish those days could come back. Enlightened boy, may you remain in the light, my Narek; we will always remember you with pride and fond, innocent memories as my good and kind school friend. I wish this day would be erased from the calendar; I wish I never wrote these lines in life. May God enlighten your soul, dear Narek."
It is reported that from 16:50 to around 21:00, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units opened fire with large-caliber firearms in the Kuti, Sotk, and Verin Shorja areas, also using artillery and mortars. The Armenian side has reported two more injuries and one death.
