Suspect Arrested in Attempted Murder of Zakhar Prilepin: Russian Interior Ministry

A suspect involved in the attempted murder of writer Zakhar Prilepin has been detained. This was reported by Irina Volk, a spokesperson for the Russian Interior Ministry.

“Police officers have arrested a man on hot trails who may be involved in the explosion of the car in which Zakhar Prilepin was located,” she stated.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that another person was in the car with Prilepin at the time of the explosion. According to the department, the driver was present and died at the scene.

Prilepin himself was injured in his legs and has been hospitalized at a nearby hospital. Doctors are considering the possibility of transferring Prilepin to Moscow.

Zakhar Prilepin's wife, Marian, commented on the information regarding the murder attempt in an interview with REN TV. “Zakhar is alive and receiving medical assistance,” she said.

Marian added that their family has received numerous threats over the years, but there were no specific threats before this terrorism incident. Police are investigating all the circumstances of the event.
