Georgia Denied EU Membership Candidate Status, Kaladze Explains Reason

Georgia has not been granted candidate status for EU membership because the leadership of the republic has refused to join sanctions against the Russian Federation, stated Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.

“The refusal to grant candidate status was a political decision, and the public understood very well why this happened. The government of Georgia poses a problem for them, as it does not join sanctions, does not start a war, does not open a ‘second front’ in the country,” said Kaladze.
