Transfer of 28 Referenced Patients, Including a Pregnant Woman and a 9-Year-Old Child to Armenia Cancelled
In the context of the ongoing blockade of Artsakh by Azerbaijan and the installation of an illegal Azerbaijani checkpoint along the Armenia-Artsakh border, the transfer of 28 referenced patients to specialized medical facilities in the Republic of Armenia has been cancelled in recent days. This was reported in a statement by the Ministry of Health of Artsakh.
During the 135 days of blockade, the transfer of individuals with urgent health issues has only been possible through the mediation and accompaniment of the International Committee of the Red Cross, during which a total of 337 patients have been transferred to the Republic of Armenia.
The cancelled transport also included a future mother in the late stages of pregnancy, whose upcoming newborn requires an urgent cardiac surgical intervention immediately after birth, which cannot be performed in Artsakh. Another case of the cancelled transfer involves a 9-year-old child from Artsakh suffering from acute leukemia.
The Ministry of Health continues official communication with the International Committee of the Red Cross to arrange the transfer of referenced patients to the Republic of Armenia as soon as possible.
