Red Cross Engages in Dialogue for Restoration of Humanitarian Transport via Lachin Corridor

The Red Cross is in dialogue with all decision-makers regarding the restoration of humanitarian cargo transport through the Lachin corridor. Zara Amatuni, head of the communications and prevention programs at the Armenian office of the Red Cross, stated this in an interview with Armenia Today.

“Currently, discussions are ongoing with all decision-makers to clarify certain details regarding our transports so that we can initiate our humanitarian operations along the Lachin corridor as quickly as possible,” Amatuni noted.

Azerbaijan has blocked the Khakari Bridge connecting Armenia to Artsakh since April 23, which is located in the Lachin corridor. Officials in Baku announced the installation of a new checkpoint, stating that this was done for security reasons.

The Security Council of Artsakh has urged the parties to the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, and especially Russia, to begin immediate discussions to lift the blockade of Artsakh, prevent the installation of the Azerbaijani checkpoint in the Lachin corridor, and ensure real security guarantees for the people of the Republic.
