Judges of the Heart of Power: 'Zhoghovourd'
The newspaper 'Zhoghovourd' reports that an extraordinary session of the National Assembly will convene today. The agenda includes questions that were not discussed during the previous meeting, as lawmakers spent three days discussing the performance of the government's program.
Today’s session will also include elections for judges. The Supreme Judicial Council has nominated three candidates for three vacant positions of judges in the Court of Cassation. For the vacant position in the anti-corruption chamber of the Court of Cassation, candidates Armen Danielyan, Elizaveta Danielyan, and Arsen Nikoghosyan have been put forward.
For the vacant position in the civil cases chamber of the anti-corruption court, candidates Karen Aghajanyan, Liza Grigoryan, and Karen Tumanyan have been nominated, while for the vacant position in the civil chamber of the Court of Cassation, candidates Vahagn Torosyan, Lilit Khachatryan, and Ani Mkhitaryan have been proposed.
But who are they? Ani Mkhitaryan is a member of the Council of Justice, whose term is about to expire next month. She is considered the 'heart candidate' of the authorities. Judge Liza Grigoryan is a close associate of ruling party MP Heriknaz Tigranyan, and it is possible that she will also be elected.
Armen Danielyan is among the judges who reportedly 'validate' the heart of the authorities, making him another influential candidate. Despite the elections in parliament, decisions on who will be appointed to which position are already made in advance within the ruling coalition.
