Costume Torn During Controversial Incident In Parliament Involving Gegham Manukyan
The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that during the disgraceful incident in Parliament on April 20, the security personnel tore the costume of Gegham Manukyan, a member of the 'Armenia' faction, during their illegal actions.
It is recalled that on that day, the Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan, staged a political action near the parliament podium, after which other opposition members joined the protest. During the opposition's political action, in what is considered a bastion of democracy in Armenia, the security personnel forcibly removed the opposition members from the session hall on the direct orders of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan.
It appears that the parliamentary security staff acted so 'selflessly' in response to Alen Simonyan's instructions that they ended up tearing Gegham Manukyan's costume. While there have been no shortage of scandalous incidents and brawls in the history of the Armenian parliament, it seems that this parliament is determined to set a record for the use of violence against opposition members.
