Sudan’s Special Forces Attack Convoy of French Embassy

Sudan’s rapid response forces have attacked a convoy organized by the French embassy for the evacuation of citizens, announced the Sudanese army on Sunday, as reported by TASS.

"The rapid response forces attacked the convoy of the French embassy during the evacuation," Al Arabiya television quoted the Sudanese armed forces statement.

According to the army, one French national was injured in the shootout near the diplomatic mission building, as reported by Al Hadath television.

The rapid response forces accused the Sudanese army of the incident in a statement posted on their official Twitter account. They also accused the army of violating international and humanitarian law as well as the ceasefire regime.

On Friday evening, the Sudanese army announced its readiness to maintain a three-day humanitarian ceasefire across the country. On Thursday, the opposing rapid response forces announced their agreement to observe the ceasefire during the Muslim fasting holiday of Eid al-Fitr.
