Rosselkhoznadzor to Ban Import of Chicken Tails from Azerbaijan

The Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia, known as Rosselkhoznadzor, has requested the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan to cease the certification of chicken tails intended for Russian buyers starting from April 24 of this year. Consequently, the transit of this product across the territory of the Russian Federation will be prohibited from that date.

The reason for this decision is that the Azerbaijani poultry company "Sunaz" has sent products produced in Iran during a period of high avian influenza prevalence to Russia. In 2023, the Azerbaijani company has shipped over one ton of such products through Russia to Belarus.

Rosselkhoznadzor will only lift the ban when "Sunaz" provides documentation proving the Azerbaijani origin of the products and certifying their safety in terms of veterinary and food standards. Rosselkhoznadzor has notified the relevant authorities in Belarus about this decision.
