Pacific Fleet Commander Dismissed After Unexpected Inspection
Admiral Sergey Avakyants no longer heads the Russian Pacific Fleet, as stated by Yuri Trutnev, the representative of the Russian President in the Far Eastern Federal District, during a meeting.
According to him, he has been appointed as the head of the staff responsible for military training and patriotic education centers. Each center will begin retraining a shift of 300 personnel. The centers are expected to open in May. Throughout the year, at least 9,000 individuals will be retrained. The centers will prepare and educate young people aged 14 to 35, including schoolchildren and students.
“This central structure will essentially be managed by Admiral Avakyants, who was recently in charge of the Pacific Fleet, as the operational staff for carrying out the tasks set forth by the president,” said Trutnev.
Admiral Avakyants took command of the Pacific Fleet in 2012. Prior to that, he served in the Northern Fleet staff and was the first deputy commander of the Pacific Fleet.
It is noteworthy that Pacific Fleet units are participating in military operations on Ukrainian territory.
