Suspicious Substances, Pills, Rope, Playing Cards Found in 'Nubarashen' Penitentiary Cells
On April 18, 2023, in an effort to detect narcotics and prohibited items held by inmates and convicts, officers from the central body of the Penitentiary Service, along with operational and security personnel from the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, conducted unscheduled searches in various cells of the Nubarashen penitentiary institution.
According to reports from the public relations department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, as a result of the searches in one of the cells of Building 4, a partially clad inmate, identified as G.S., was found to be in possession of a mobile phone with its subscriber card in his right pocket, while a glass bottle, containing a white crystalline substance weighing 0.3 grams resembling narcotics, fell out of his left pocket. Additionally, a brown powdery substance weighing 0.2 grams was also discovered.
Authorities also confiscated three 3ml syringes, two of which were filled with a colorless liquid, one 1ml syringe, a needle with its sheath, two pills, 14 USB cables, 10 chargers, two handmade ropes intended for the transfer of banned items, six headphones, a set of playing cards, one sharp pointed object, and two mobile phones, all deemed prohibited.
