Brawl Between Village Mayor and Residents in Tegh: Investigative Report

Azerbaijani military threats are not the only danger for the residents of Tegh village; community leader Davit Ghulunts and his team have also become a source of concern. According to Hayastani Hanrapetutyun, two days ago a quarrel between Ghulunts and a 23-year-old resident, Ashot Galstyan, ended in a brawl. Supporters from both sides were called in, resulting in a group fight.

“Ghulunts sustained mild injuries to his head, while the 23-year-old man was transferred to Heratsi Hospital with multiple fractures to his facial area. Our sources at the hospital have reported that strict security measures are in place near the patient’s room, and he will undergo several surgeries today. He is barely able to talk, but it is evident that he has been beaten,” the report states.

We reached out to Ashot Galstyan's father, who, upon hearing the question, avoided answering: “Nothing happened, I can’t talk,” he said, “call back in 10 minutes,” but he became unreachable shortly after.

Meanwhile, Mayor Ghulunts, displaying an aggressive demeanor, claimed that the allegations were false, stating, “There is no such thing,” and further taunted, “Let’s say something happened to Galstyan’s boy, what is it to you? Mind your own business... If Galstyan claims his son was beaten, let him go to the police,” the newspaper reported.
